**Why Lancaster?**
We’re an award-winning, kind and responsible council, and we’re incredibly proud of our district and communities that reach from the coast to the mountains, including the historic City of Lancaster, Morecambe, Carnforth and many other beautiful places.
**The Role**
We are currently wanting to expand our Repairs and Maintenance Team. The post holder must have an NVQ level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent certificate. The Repairs and Maintenance Department has the responsibility for carrying out responsive and planned maintenance works, and void management works to Lancaster City Council’s housing and non-housing stock. In order to improve service levels, meet performance targets and increase the working base, the section is recruiting for a Joiner x 3.
This post is 37 hours per week (Monday to Thursday, 8.00am to 4.30pm, and Friday, 8.00am to 3.30pm), however you are required for operational purposes to work 39 hours per week; as this is in excess of the standard 37-hour week, you will accrue 1 days leave for every 20 days worked.
The majority of our posts have set hours (usually working Monday to Friday) with standard start and finish times each day. For those who want the opportunity to earn a bit more we also offer opportunities for overtime and in some instances stand by and callout additional payments.
A full current UK driving licence is also essential for this post as the post holder will be required to work a transient role around the district, as they will have to travel between locations and travel within the Councils designated area**. **As a result, you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data.
**Our Benefits**
Lancaster is a great place to work, as well as being part of something special you will also benefit from:
- Generous annual leave allowance
- Local Government Pension Scheme
- A range of employee benefits including discounted gym membership, cycle to work scheme, the opportunity to purchase extra time off, as well as discounts on days out, activities and retail.
Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing both carbon emissions and the impacts of climate change.
We are a disability confident committed employer.
