We are currently recruiting for passionate, experienced and committed Recovery Workers to join our forensic mental health step-down services based in Croydon, to work as key members of an integrated multi-disciplinary team in maintaining and delivering a high standard of care and support rehabilitation service.
The aim of the service is to provide staged (High/Medium/Low) accommodation-based support to people referred by South London and Maudsley Trust (SLaM) that will allow them to address their complex support needs and prepare for independent living whilst also managing the risk individuals may pose to the community.
As a Recovery Worker your role is to provide a supportive, responsive and effective service in order to rehabilitate and reintegrate service users back into the community and provide pathways, support and appropriate interventions that will enable successful resettlements. Taking a holistic and person-centred approach, you will work to support individuals to identify their strengths, set goals, develop coping mechanisms and support motivation to improve their mental health and well-being, and also work closely with other agencies to ensure that appropriate care and risk management plans are delivered.
To be successful in this role, you will have great communication and engagement skills, with the maturity to work within a framework of recovery, building confidence, self-esteem, hope and positive coping skills. You will be someone who shares our values and be committed to achieving great outcomes for our service users.
You will required to work 37.5 hours per week, in a shift pattern including weekends, bank holidays, so you’ll need to be flexible with the hours you are able to work.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Implement the service’s policies and procedures in order to deliver the overall programme using a recovery focused approach.
- Encourage Service Users to develop social networks and undertake meaningful activities to assist them to develop positive coping mechanisms and reintegrate into the wider community.
- Maintain a standard of service as required by Commissioners and Penrose to deliver a safe and effective service.
- Responsible for the maintenance of a healthy, safe and psychologically informed environment that includes the security of the building, fabric and grounds.
- Ensure that information is shared appropriately within the team and with other professionals and that all Service User and service records are accurate and up to date.
- Liaise with relevant and appropriate agencies and services to provide information, advice, support and treatment where necessary in relation to physical and mental health, substance misuse, education, employment and training, life skills and any other identified support needs.
**Experience Required**:
- Degree in Psychology/NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care/Community Justice or equivalent professional experience
- Experience of working with ex-offenders with mental health issues / substance misuse / challenging chaotic behaviours
- Direct experience and understanding of providing key working and support or care planning
- Working understanding of the housing and social needs of ex-offenders with mental health
- Experience of successful reintegration of service users into the community
- Experience of lone working and working on own initiative
- All successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and provide employment references covering the last 5 years period including one from your most recent employer._
