We have an exciting opportunity for a **Mechanical Maintenance Apprentice** to join our team based at our Edmonton, North London Head Office. LondonEnergy Ltd operates the second largest waste management companies in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across North London making a difference to the environmentand the local community from the work we do. By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough energy from waste to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centre's. You will train as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice Technician and undertake a structured training program of academic study and workshop activities in order to gain the required skills and knowledge to support the Engineering Maintenance Department. **Key responsibilities to include** - Undertaking Apprenticeship training and any other additional learning courses in order to gain knowledge and facilitate learning and development, whilst achieving the academic grades and practical skills in order to entitle yearly progression leading tothe award of a suitable NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Mechanical Engineering - Observing, learning and understanding engineering & maintenance tasks whilst working alongside a Mechanical Technician, within the Engineering Department - Training and experience in the use of the Lathes, Milling Machines, Radial Arm Drill, Pedestal Drill and Grinding Wheels; hand held power tools, along with the use of Oxy-Apachi Cutting Equipment and basic Welding skills - Fault finding, repair/rectification, maintenance and installation of safety equipment, overhead gantry cranes, boilers, pumps, compressors, conveying systems, turbines and their associated equipment in order to achieve the required standard of an "Improver"Mechanical Technician - To train in the use of hand and machine tools and to gain the knowledge to carry out repairs and maintenance of all mechanical equipment primarily at our EcoPark Energy Centre, with the potential to attend satellite sites as and when required - Learning and understanding the importance of Health and safety within the workplace - To learn how to maintain workshop equipment and to keep it in good working order - Maintaining a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects that have been undertaken and the skills learned - Maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and EcoPark site - To perform any other duties appropriate to the role of the post holder **Requirements**: - You will have good GCSE Mathematics, English, Science grades (C or above) or an A Level / NVQ Level's 1 or 2 in Mathematics is preferred - Good written and verbal communication skills - An aptitude for Engineering, hands on approach - A willingness to take responsibility for tasks and training progression - Flexible approach to direction - Ability to work independently or as part of a team - Good time keeping and attendance - An enthusiastic approach to completing a 4year Technical Apprenticesh - You must be available to attend our Open Day on Thursday 30 March._ **Benefits** - Salary of £17,000 to £18,000 per annum - All employees will be entitled to 28 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays - Flexible working hours - Salary exchange pension scheme with a minimum employer contribution of 5% - Subsidised Bistro onsite at the EcoPark - Paternity leave package - Westfield Health Medical Cash Plan including eye tests and dental - Interest free season ticket loan over £500 - Option to save directly from salary with North London Credit Union - Cycle to work scheme and Health Club concessions - Free onsite parking or a shuttle bus from Tottenham Hale to the EcoPark.
