Support Worker

**Role**:
**Who You Are**:

- Hold a Level 3 qualification related to working with Children and Young People
- Possess knowledge and understanding of child development and family dynamics
- Effective communication skills and ability to undertake direct work with children and young people
- Capability to write accurate records and reports
- Proficiency in partnership working with children, young people, and families
- Solution-focused and able to produce high-standard work within set timescales
- Empathetic and able to follow through on agreements with children, young people, and families
- Ability to utilize information technology effectively
- Committed to professional and ethical standards
- Knowledge of legislative frameworks and processes for Looked After Children and Child Protection Plans
- Commitment to own professional development
- Demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity
**What the Job Involves**:

- Contributing to assessment, care planning, and reviews with a child-centered focus
- Conducting direct work with children, young people, and families in homes and community settings
- Promoting contact between looked-after children and their birth families
- Identifying and assessing levels of risk and need, reporting risks appropriately
- Communicating effectively and confidently in various situations
- Safeguarding children within the community, identifying and reporting Safeguarding issues
- In emergencies, staying overnight in family homes to prevent child accommodation
- Monitoring and delivering evidence-based tools and parenting programs
- Supporting involvement of children and young people in decision-making processes
- Promoting the wellbeing and resilience of children through understanding child development
- Practicing inclusively with respect to identity and diversity
- Collaborating with colleagues and partners across various agencies
- Advising and referring to other services per support plans
- Representing the department at various meetings and producing accurate reports
- Entering accurate and timely data into electronic systems
- Authorizing and recording case expenditures
- Contributing to team meetings and service development events
- Engaging in performance reviews, supervision sessions, and learning opportunities
- Ensuring data confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998
- Other duties as directed to meet service exigencies
