**Support young minds, shape bright futures — in a flexible, fulfilling role.**
Nurture potential where it matters most — in the early years.
Are you a caring, adaptable individual with experience in Early Years or Special Educational Needs (SEND)? Do you have a genuine passion for helping young children thrive at the very start of their educational journey?
Sense Education is seeking a committed Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Leeds. Whether you're qualified in childcare, early years, or SEND—or bring practical experience supporting young children—this is a fantastic opportunity to build your career and make a real difference every day.
**The Role**
As a Part-Time Early Years Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in giving children the best possible start in life. You’ll work in a supportive EYFS classroom, helping young learners—particularly those with additional needs—feel safe, engaged, and inspired to grow.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- **Individual & Small Group Support**: Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions tailored to children with SEND, helping them achieve developmental milestones.
- **Supporting Early Learning**: Promote early literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills through both structured and play-based activities.
- **Inclusive Environment**: Contribute to a safe, welcoming classroom where every child is included, supported, and encouraged to take part in learning.
- **Collaboration with Teachers**: Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to plan and deliver impactful interventions that support progress and engagement.
- **Building Relationships**: Form strong, nurturing connections with pupils, offering emotional support and encouraging confidence, regulation, and well-being.
This is a highly rewarding and varied role where you'll see the positive results of your work every single day.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Genuinely passionate about early childhood education
- Experienced in EYFS or supporting children with SEND
- Confident in managing sensory and emotional regulation needs
- Ideally qualified in childcare, early years, or teaching assistance (not essential)
- Positive, reliable, and a strong communicator who thrives as part of a team
**The School**
Located in Leeds, this inclusive and well-resourced special school supports young children with Autism and communication needs. The staff team is experienced, nurturing, and focused on providing tailored learning and care.
