To develop with ward/unit leads and matrons the Training Needs Analysis for Gynaecology and to identify training priorities. To understand own role and scope, identify own development needs and take responsibility for their continuing professional development and performance. Attend Trust and local department mandatory study days, and other study days identified by the Matron / KSF as being relevant to sphere of practice.

To participate in all areas of clinical governance including risk management and act within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. To be aware of the NMC Scope of Professional Practice and ensure competent to undertake duties as allocated. To be accountable for own practice. To be responsible for maintaining a professional and up to date portfolio as per NMC Guidelines.

To support managers and Matrons to evaluate clinical practice of others which may be required as part of any formal processes. Working with others to support all staff including pre and post registration nurses, HCA in identification of training and practice development needs. Ensures a cost effective, yet seamless service in Colposcopy is provided for patients Leadership Take a pro-active role in maintaining effective communication with all the members of the multi-disciplinary team. Ensure that communication with patients and their families remains effective in meeting the sensitive needs of the patient.

Able to communicate with empathy and reassurance in demanding and sometimes challenging situation. Assume responsibility and take action that addresses deficits in clinical practice situations which may result in potential harm to patients or others. Work flexibly to cross cover colleagues and minimise service disruption in urgent situations Support the senior staff to undertake appraisals as part of the PDR process as and when required. Develop and deliver, with others, the annual training plans for the division.

Support the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources across the division. To act as an education and training resource for staff to enable them to meet their own health and well-being, through the provision of appropriate information advice and information about specialist support. Motivate colleagues and self to deliver high standards of care in line with the divisional philosophy and Trust strategic objective. Exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy, critical judgement, acting as a role model.

As part of clinical practice, assessing and recognising emergencies in the clinical speciality, able to interpret information and take appropriate action and lead others to do so. Manage challenging and difficult situations with a professional and emotionally appropriate response, ensuring the needs of the patient remain paramount. Education & Training To maintain a high profile on the wards and departments providing ongoing practical assistance to students/ mentors in achieving required competences Identification of learning needs and development of strategies with senior colleagues, a plan to enable learning needs to be met. Motivate pre and post registration learning to achieve required outcomes and maintain continuing professional development.

Liaise with Learning and Development leads so that programs are in place for staff to achieve compliance with mandatory training. Assist both learners and mentors to identify and utilize learning opportunities and provide support in the education and development process. Evaluate the effectiveness of education and their impact on patient care Provide education in support of change and service development across the directorate Make recommendations regarding future education needs in response to changes in practice or service delivery. Ensure own compliance with PDR and Mandatory training.
