This is a great opportunity to start to your career in accountancy with training and work initially focussed on a range of accounting and bookkeeping activities.

In addition you will learn about VAT and PAYE and support our teams providing these services to our clients. Later on aspects of tax will be introduced.

Training details

You will undertake the “Accounts / Finance Assistant” Apprenticeship (an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Accounting), with full support from Accountancy Learning as part of their Apprenticeship Programme.

Successful completion of the AAT (Level 2) Foundation Certificate in Accounting is a mandatory element of the Accounts / Finance Assistant Apprenticeship. Your Apprenticeship will therefore include formal studies towards this qualification. It is anticipated that your apprenticeship duration will be for 15 months, although earlier completion is possible provided the duration exceeds one year and a week.

You will receive support from both the employer and the training provider to complete and achieve your Apprenticeship, and you will be given time to study during the week on a day release basis. As you are working towards a professional qualification, it is also expected that you will continue your studies outside of normal office hours.

As you learn more in both the office and in your studies, your responsibilities and the variety of tasks you undertake are expected to increase.

Working week

Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm

37.5 hours per week

Wage

Competitive salary depending on the results of our initial assessment processes. Frequent pay reviews also take place to reflect progress during training. Referral scheme based on a commission structure.

**Vacancy Description**:
A broad range of accounting and finance tasks will be undertaken providing experience across

our activities.

**Tasks at some point will include**:
Data entry for the weekly and monthly client bookkeeping

Self assessment tax returns

Data entry for client accounts

VAT returns and submission

Matching the bank feeds

Understanding the various accounting software in use

General administrative work including various ad hoc duties when assisting the owners

Providing occasional cover on the telephones

**Requirements**:
Attention to detail, accuracy and common-sense.

Strong team player, willingness to really get involved with all aspects of the business and an ambition to grow with it.

Good grades at GCSE (6 or above) or similar, particularly in Maths, English and Sciences. However, we are more interested in ability than qualification.
