Governance & Risk Officer

The Governance & Risk Officer will provide support to the Head of Governance and Risk in setting up and running the organisation’s risk assurance function. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and growing area of the organisation, which will allow for plenty of innovation and proactive thinking.
The role covers a wide remit, including the corporate risk register, policy management, contract management, data protection, information security, internal audit delivery, and governance administration. This role is perfect for someone who likes variety in their work, and wants to learn how good governance supports good decision making, and how effective risk management facilitates an organisation’s work. You will gain an insight into how the Charity is run from the highest level and will help directly shape the way we deliver our charitable objectives.
**What will the position involve?**
- You will provide administration support to the Head of Governance and Risk.
- You will build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders both internal and external to help drive our business partnering approach.
- You will be responsible for creating and maintaining various risk assurance logs and registers and engaging with key stakeholders to drive improvements against those logs.
- Working with colleagues across all levels and areas of the organisation, you will promote awareness of good governance and assurance practices.
- Undertaking various administrative tasks and assisting the Head of Governance & Risk to maintain a robust forward plan for the Risk function and the Governance committees, both at management and Trustee level.
- Involved in ensuring the charity is keeping to the highest standards of data protection and information security, and identifying, implementing and tracking changes to procedures to help drive improvements.
**Skills required.**
- Strong administration skills.
- Self-motivated, with an ability to drive your work forward and ask for help/input as needed.
- You’ll have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage with colleagues at all levels.
- You’re enthusiastic about personal learning and growth - willing to undertake training and an ability to learn quickly, and an ability to impart information and skills to others.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Ability to review, analyse and interpret data, and act upon the findings.

(e.g. DBS/PVG or similar), including 2 years references covering any gaps of employment, confirm eligibility to work in the UK and complete a health check.
