**Job Description**:
AECOM are looking for a consultant ecologist to join our vibrant team based in Northern Ireland. We offer the scope to undertake the full range of ecological consultancy services, including specialist habitat and species surveys, impact assessment, providing advice on biodiversity mitigation and developing habitat management plans across a broad range of exciting projects.

As a consultant ecologist at AECOM you’ll be reliable, hard-working, organised and pro-active, in order to help you manage what will often be a busy workload. You will enjoy working with other ecologists on a range of ecological surveys and assessments, as well as excellent report-writing skills. The ability to process data and create and manage large datasets would be an advantage, as would experience of using mobile mappers and GIS.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Work as part of the existing network of AECOM ecologists within an integrated team on challenging multi-disciplinary projects, mostly in North West England and North Wales;
- Communicate effectively and professionally;
- Assist with winning and delivering an exciting portfolio of ecological surveys and assessments on time, to a high standard and within budget;
- Conduct desk and field-based habitat and species surveys;
- Perform the role of an Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects;
- Undertake analysis, evaluation, interpretation and presentation of ecological data, including through supporting production of Ecological Impacts Assessments and design of mitigation strategies;
- Provide robust, proportionate advice to clients on a wide range of ecological issues;
- Comply with internal business management procedures, including in relation to health and safety and technical quality
**Qualifications**:
**The person we are looking for will ideally have**:
- A proactive and careful approach to Health and Safety;
- Strong client focus and team player values;
- Previous relevant experience working within an ecology team;
- Committed to continuing professional development including through membership of CIEEM (or willingness to become a member);
- A strong sense of ownership in both your time management and the work you produce;
- Professional, organised and thorough approach to work with a keen eye for detail;
- Phase 1 Habitat and/or protected species survey skills;
- Ecological Clerk of Works experience;
- Relevant species / mitigation survey licences or evidence of working towards these;
- The ability to work within time restrictions and meeting deadlines; and
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing, as well as someone who responds well to constructive feedback.
