Part-Time Barista Wanted | Independent Café | 3 Days a Week (Inc. 1 Weekend Day)

We’re a small, independent café with a big heart — and we’re on the lookout for a part-time barista to join our friendly team.

About the Role:

- Hours: 3 days per week (must include 1 weekend day)
- Start: ASAP or flexible for the right person
- Location: SY13 4QH
- Pay: Variable based on applicant

Lockside Cafe is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant/Barista to join our family-run establishment located next to the picturesque Shropshire Union Canal. As a vital member of our team, you will play a key role in creating memorable experiences for our diverse clientele, which includes hikers, dog walkers, passing commuters, and members of the local community.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Greet customers with a warm and welcoming demeanor, providing exceptional customer service at all times.

2. Take orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service during busy periods.

3. Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, adhering to quality standards.

4. Assist in the preparation of food items, such as sandwiches, pastries, and snacks, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area.

5. Handle customer transactions and operate the point-of-sale system accurately.

6. Maintain a clean and organized cafe environment, including clearing tables, washing dishes, and restocking supplies as needed.

7. Engage with customers to promote menu items, specials, and upcoming events.

8. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment.

**Requirements**:
1. Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a cafe or hospitality setting (But not necessarily essential)

2. Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and espresso machine operation is a plus.

3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for providing exceptional customer service.

4. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

5. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.

6. A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the role.

Pay: £7.55-£14.00 per hour
