Trainee Advanced Practitioner Ophthalmology

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic Trainee Advanced Practitioner to join our Ophthalmology multidisciplinary team. This developmental role will help you gain the knowledge and skills to work as an Advanced Practioner. Upon completion of competences the pay band will rise from band 6 to pay band 7.
To be our chosen applicant you must be an exceptional colleague who has some leadership experience at band 5 or above as well as sound knowledge and skills for the care of patients with eye conditions. In addition you will be an outstanding role model delivering a high standard of care whilst supporting more junior staff and contributing to service development.
We would like you to have an ophthalmology-specific post-registration qualification or be working towards this.
**Some of the tasks related to this role are**:
- Face to face and Telephone Pre-op assessment and post-op clinics
- Intra-vitreal injections
- Nurse-led clinic
- Work collaboratively with all members of the Ophthalmic Multidisciplinary Team
- Contribute to service improvement in the specialty
This post will work in collaboration with, and autonomously as part of, the Ophthalmology team to support existing and new innovations across organisational and professional boundaries.

Once all the competencies have been achieved the Trainee AO will:
1. Work as an autonomous Advanced Practitioner (AP) undertaking holistic assessment, examination and diagnosis in order to implement management plans for Ophthalmic patients
2. Use specialist knowledge and skills to independently provide healthcare to patients attending the Ophthalmology department.
3. AP is accountable for total episode of care of the patient including assessment, diagnosis and treatment along with the decision to discharge or refer patients as required
4. The AP will work alongside the Medical Retinal consultants in the provision of care for Diabetic eye disease and aged related macular degeneration this will include assessment, diagnosis and interpretation of OCT and the delivery of the Intravitreal Injection of Anti Veg-F therapy.
5. The AP will work alongside the consultant and medical team in the progression and development of ophthalmology services
