EMA Patient Transport provide specialist mental health secure transport and non-emergency patient transport to the NHS, local authority, CCGs and individuals. We are looking for a caring, resilient individual with excellent communication skills, to join our team of skilled and trained Ambulance Support Workers.
As an Ambulance Support Worker, you will be participating in delivering the highest quality of care to patients. In collaboration with your team, you will be actively involved in delivering, monitoring and evaluating care, and managing risk.
**What's on offer?**
- £12 per hour
- 36 hours per week, covering 12-hours per day, on a rota basis, between 8am-8pm Monday to Sunday

**What will your role entail**:
- You will attend a variety of healthcare and home settings to transport patients from A to B, with care and with safety at the forefront of your mind
- You will work with patients with a variety of ailments, including patients who are suffering with poor mental health
- You will convey patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, including patients who are physically resistant
- You will utilise a range of equipment and techniques to enable a safe transfer
- You will drive and maintain our vehicles to the highest standard
- You will check paperwork to ensure that the correct provisions are in place prior to transfer
- You will submit detailed and accurate reports of your journeys
- You will undertake ongoing training as and when required.
**Who are you?**
- Having previous patient transport and/or secure transport experience would be highly advantageous
- You have ideally worked within the healthcare industry and/or within a public service role previously
- You are compassionate and have an understanding of a range of mental health conditions
- You are resilient and assertive
- You are able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
- You are self-motivated and have the ability to use your own initiative
- You are able to remain calm in high pressured situations, including when dealing with an individual who is presenting aggressively
- You have good skills in attentive listening, personal qualities of being genuine, non-judgemental and respectful, and with the ability to demonstrate warmth and empathy towards patients
- You are over the age of 25; we're afraid you have to be over the age of 25 to drive our ambulances
- Able to work flexibly due to unexpected circumstances i.e. Traffic or shift overruns
- Be physically fit due to the requirement to move patients.

COVID-19 considerations:
Face masks are still worn whilst travelling in the vehicles. We also ask our crews to complete an LFT test twice weekly to keep themselves, their colleagues and our patients safe.
Vehicles are cleaned to an extremely high standard after every transfer.
