You will also support the delivery of Taylors Sourcing Approach (TSA), our unique values-led approach to sourcing high quality tea, coffee and packaging.
This is a 2-year fixed term trainee role; while a permanent position cannot be guaranteed at the end of the training period, we hope to offer permanent roles to successful trainees upon completion of the training period. We will discuss this with you throughout your traineeship.
**Your main responsibilities will include**:
- Working alongside the tea, coffee and packaging buyers to gain a thorough understanding of all buying activities including the development of sourcing strategies, price negotiation and forecasting, and the effective management of raw material stocks.
- Participating in tea and coffee tastings and in doing so starting to develop a palate for professional tasting.
- Working alongside the Responsible Sourcing team to build an understanding of social and environmental sustainability, responsible procurement practices, third-party certification and our value chain investment scheme.
- Building a good working knowledge of the food safety/legal requirements of the raw materials we source, including the origins and supply chains we source from.
- Developing a thorough understanding of tea and coffee manufacturing processes both within our factory and at origin.
- Supporting the Supply team with the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data, and the writing of reports.
**About you**
Key skills and knowledge include:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A continuous improvement mindset.
- Highly numerate and able to analyse data and make connections and recommendations.
- Able to work flexibly as part of a team and independently.
- Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to deliver high quality work.
- Good interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Highly competent in using MS Office and the ability to use/learn other IT systems/databases.
- An awareness/understanding of the key factors (environmental, political, economic and social) that impact the tea and coffee industry.
You will be confident and able to travel for extended periods of time to tea and coffee producing countries.
In addition, language skills (preferably Spanish) are desirable.**
**What we offer you**
As a minimum, all our employees receive free meals, drinks and snacks while at work. Our discretionary quarterly bonus scheme is available as soon as you join us, which is a share of profits paid as a percentage of qualifying earnings. You’ll also receive holiday allowance with the option to buy and (in some cases) sell additional days, company-wide employee discounts, access to our health cash plan, wellbeing support, company-funded counselling, and enrolment in the company pension plan.
We also offer a range of development opportunities no matter your role and ambitions. We encourage everyone to explore what makes them the best version of themselves, and we do this through external training programmes, apprenticeships and internal 1:1 coaching schemes.
