At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for - the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.
The Public Health Team at Swindon Borough Council is seeking to recruit a Public Health Specialist to lead on our work in tackling inequalities linked to health within Swindon. Experience working on health inequalities is desirable although not essential, but you must bring enthusiasm to support change and a strong background in project or programme management as well as an ability to work across organisational boundaries and build strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. We have a programme of work which is already underway but recognise that we need additional capacity and expertise to further develop, co-ordinate and progress the programme.
Our vision is to create healthy, strong and resilient communities. Our highly successful public health team works to improve and protect the health of Swindon residents, tackle health inequalities and protect the most vulnerable. This role will be a key part of delivering that vision.
**Your next role**
You will co-ordinate our work in reducing inequalities related to health across the Swindon Integrated Care Alliance. You will work closely with the BSW (B&NES, Swindon and Wiltshire) Inequalities Project Manager and a range of other stakeholders and organisations to implement our inequalities strategy locally and reduce inequalities in our population.
As a Public Health Specialist, you will need to be resilient and motivated; a strong team player who is comfortable working with a range of partner organisations; and taking the lead on major projects.
We offer you hybrid working at the present time with a requirement to be able to travel to Swindon Borough Council Offices and across the Borough as required.
**Your next package**
Please see our **Rewards and Benefits** offer for more details.
For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It’s why our regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. So, you’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we’ll achieve our vision of a prosperous, re-vitalised Swindon by 2030 together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.
