**Band 6/7 Occupational Therapist - Early Discharge and Medical Rehabilitation**

**Location**:West Middlesex/ Chelsea

**Start Date**:ASAP

**End Date**:TBC

**Working Pattern**:Mon-Fri, 37.5 hrs, 8:00-16:00

**The Client**

Our well established team will support your transition from student to newly qualified therapist or encourage further development to support your career.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is easily accessed by bus from North Greenwich tube station and there is a frequent and free inter-hospital bus available from Lewisham Hospital.

**The Role**

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our rotation at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The rotations include:
Acute Medical Unit supporting the frailty pathway

Acute Medicine (Respiratory, Cardiology, Gastroenterology)

General Surgery

Older People

Acute Stroke (based at UHL)

Trauma and Orthopaedics

We have Specialist Occupational Therapists who provide support and teaching as part of the preceptorship programmes for newly graduated and existing Band 5s.

**Person Specification**

**Qualifications & Training**

**Essential**
- Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration

**Desirable**
- BAOT
- Member of Special interest Group
- Undertaken a range of relevant postgraduate courses / Preceptorship

**Experience**

**Essential**
- A broad range of undergraduate experience in all core specialities of Occupational Therapy
- Experience and ability to work collaboratively within MPT

**Desirable**
- Previous experience at band 5 level
- Experience of clinical practice in an NHS environment
- Experience of participating in audit and evidence based projects.
- Evidence of actively participating in in-service training and MDT groups, and evaluating effectiveness of training
- Research experience
- Experience in managing limited resources and high workloads

**Knowledge**

**Essential**
- An understanding of evidenced based practice pertaining to Occupational Therapy
- Awareness of national guidelines and standards relevant to Occupational Therapy
- Understanding of clinical governance and its implication for Occupational Therapy
- Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession

**Desirable**
- Awareness and understanding of NHS structure, current issues and developments
