Head of Therapeutic Support

Millennium Support offers positive outcome-based support to people with a learning disability and complex histories, with additional vulnerabilities. Many of the people we support have complex needs including behaviours which may challenge people or society, mental illness, complex physical and emotional needs, multiple disabilities and risk issues

This role will be as part of our successful Department Leadership Team and you will manage all aspects of the Therapeutic Support function within the business

**Job Purpose**
- To lead the provision of therapeutic activities to the people we support
- Working closely with the SLT, and the wider support teams to ensure high quality

and consistent clinical practice underpinned by Millenniums principles.
- To be an active member of departments management function and contributing to the strategic goals of the organisation
- Skilled in delivering and developing Positive behaviour Support and Trauma Informed Support
- Mapping and planning appropriate therapeutic intervention, making robust judgements

about type and timing of treatment negotiated with the staff team in the service.
- Delivering group and individual therapy as required.
- Providing advice and training to ensure that therapy programes are of the highest quality

and are relevant for the people we support
- Managing and addressing parental and/or service anxieties regarding intervention and

prognosis.
- Embedding robust person-centered processes for transferring and discharging.
- Visits to services and hospitals will be required throughout the region and Coventry

**Professional Responsibility**:

- To be responsible for managing own time appropriately and prioritise tasks accordingly
- To support and guide complex cases whilst recognising own professional boundaries and

access supervision, advice and support when necessary.
- To work closely with relevant parties and practically demonstrate therapeutic approaches where appropriate.
- To work in close collaboration with SLT to ensure specialist knowledge guides service and

policy developments across the organisation
- To work with other stakeholders as required, including external stakeholders as part of

ongoing development of the Therapies Service within the wider organisation.
- To ensure the collection of clinical data and quality assure written reports.
- To ensure that the Therapy Team maintains up to date and accurate case notes in line with

professional standards and organisational policies
- To adhere to local and national standards and guidelines relating to professional practice and relevant professional bodies
- To create, develop and maintain supportive working relationships with all members

of staff, other professionals and agencies.
- To provide clinical supervision and ensure structures are in place for effective appraisal,

personal development and performance management of the Therapy Team.
- To take all possible precautions to safeguard the welfare and safety of staff as well as the people we support
- To manage the Therapeutic department budget

**About You**
- Qualification commensurate with the role e.g. Applied Psychologist eg Clinical/Counselling/Forensic
- Higher level qualification within therapeutic structure
- Track record of successful supervision of staff within a complex social and health care environment
- Able to demonstrate leadership within a Therapeutic team
