**ROLE DESCRIPTION**
Our ESG practice supports organizations in understanding and complying with evolving ESG regulations, developing sustainable business practices, and creating value through responsible corporate governance. We are seeking an experienced ESG Regulatory Consultant to join our team and work on high-impact projects for our diverse client base.
Role Overview: The ESG Regulatory Consultant will be responsible for advising clients on the regulatory landscape related to ESG, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and assisting in the development of strategies to meet ESG goals. This role requires a deep understanding of global and local ESG regulations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Provide expert guidance on ESG-related regulatory frameworks (e.g., EU Taxonomy, SFDR, TCFD, TNFD, GRI, ISSB, CSRD disclosures) and assist clients in ensuring compliance
- Understanding of carbon credits or offsets issues under voluntary and/or regulatory standards
- Risk Assessment & Reporting: Conduct ESG risk assessments, double materiality assessments, gap analyses, and impact assessments to identify regulatory risks and opportunities.
- Policy Development: Collaborate with clients to develop and implement ESG policies, strategies, and action plans in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communication and engagement with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, internal leadership, investors, and other relevant parties.
- Data Management & Analytics: Assist in the collection, analysis, and reporting of ESG-related data, ensuring transparency and accuracy in sustainability reporting.
- Project Management: Lead ESG regulatory projects, including timeline management, resource allocation, and budget oversight, ensuring timely delivery of client outcomes.
- Market Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in ESG regulations and provide clients with strategic insights and proactive solutions.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of international and regional ESG regulations (e.g., EU regulations, CSRD, global sustainability reporting standards).
- Sustainability experience: understanding of climate change megatrends, net-zero decarbonization strategies, GHG inventory plans, and data management, TCFD, climate disclosures, renewable energy, scope 3 supply chain decarbonization strategies, and carbon offsets/markets
- Consulting Experience: 5+ years of experience in management consulting, with a focus on ESG, sustainability, or regulatory compliance.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to conduct complex ESG risk analyses, and interpret regulatory requirements into practical business strategies.
- Project Management: Proven track record of managing multiple client projects simultaneously, with a focus on ESG compliance and sustainability reporting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with senior stakeholders and simplify complex regulatory information.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with ESG data management tools, sustainability reporting platforms (e.g., GRI, SASB), and financial modeling.
- Problem Solving: Ability to navigate ambiguous and evolving regulatory landscapes and create innovative, client-focused solutions.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of ESG practices across different industries, particularly sectors with high regulatory scrutiny (e.g., banking, insurance, wealth management, energy).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Law, Sustainability, Public Policy, Business or a related field.
- Certifications such as CFA ESG, CFA CCI, GARP, GRI Professional Certification, or similar.
- Experience working with cross-border regulatory frameworks and multi-jurisdictional ESG compliance.
- Mentor and coach other members of the team.
- Solution development, showing a clear ability as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to enhance existing propositions, and develop new ones.
- People management, building a team of consultants with the right mix of grades, skills and experience to support client opportunities and projected growth.
