London, United Kingdom Sweco UK Full time

Become part of our society.

Do you want your work to make a difference? Do you enjoy being part of an inclusive team where respect for people is a priority? Then Sweco is the place to be. You will be working as part of our award-winning Building Sustainability team, delivering innovative sustainability solution inspired by our Scandinavian heritage.

Sweco have completed certification for 21 Outstanding buildings in the UK, which is one of the highest numbers of any consultants, to give you a scale of our involvement in sustainable development. You will be working, from the outset with outstanding rated buildings, alongside our building simulation team and Well Standard Certifiers, aiming for highest of the class sustainable design achievement.

The Senior Sustainability Consultant is a design focus role, which focuses on providing sustainability solutions and means to enhance tangible sustainability measures by using the green certification as a tool, including end-user focused design.

At Sweco, green certifications are the essential tools to define, embed and bring to life 'Sustainable Design'. We recognise that a successful project requires engagement and collaboration between numerous stakeholders throughout the design stages, construction period and in-use. We believe that green certifications provide a framework and platform for the client, project team and the various stakeholders to share their efforts, expertise and knowledge with a clear series of aims that can be applied to enhance the building design.

From the very first initial kick-off meeting through to project handover, Sweco's team of BREEAM AP’s, WELL AP’s, ESG Experts and Social Value Assessors, seek to facilitate collaboration and innovative thinking throughout the project team. At early stages in a design, we present examples of previously applied practical solutions to show how the aim of each and every credit has been achieved on other schemes and ultimately added real value e.g., increased occupant wellbeing, increased market and rental value, reduced energy usage, etc. This approach has often helped to generate early conceptual ideas and helped to inform key deliverables when establishing a client/project brief.

**Typical duties of the Senior Sustainability Consultant will include**:

- Acting as a point of contact with clients and design teams to support the wider green certification team and consolidating the wider sustainability strategy.
- Leading client and design team meetings for BREEAM Assessments in capacity of BREEAM AP.
- Providing guidelines to project BREEAM Assessor(s) to complete design and post construction stage evidence review for design and post construction stage certification process.
- Mentoring graduate green certification team members.
- Supporting fee proposals and bids.
- Aiming to expand certification service throughout Sweco countries in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, Germany and Poland.
- Supporting fee management and financial system at Sweco.
- Ensuring tasks are carried out and completed in accordance with the agreed scope of works, timescales and budgets.
- Liaising with team members, clients and other disciplines to work together to deliver project work in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines in order to deliver project requirements.

**To be successful in this role you’ll possess**:

- A degree in Environmental, Building Sustainability or Architecture.
- BREEAM AP or Assessor (Qualification).
- Good report writing skills.
- The ability to communicate fluently and positively with other team members and to produce reports in clear English.
- Ability to organise and prioritise your own workload to ensure that timescales are met.
- Ability to take responsibility for personal development and enable and support the learning of others.

**What’s in it for you?**

You’ll be working for a top ten civil engineering firm (recognised by New Civil Engineer). Working at Sweco you’ll experience an inclusive, friendly and flexible working environment where colleagues are encouraged to grow and develop.
