Job summary
Our team is seeking a Site Environmental Advisor (SEA) who will responsible for managing environmental compliance at Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) Facilities in the United Kingdom.
This role will report to the Regional Environmental Engineer (REE) / Regional Environmental Manager (REM) for the United Kingdom for ATS. The SEA will occasionally support three additional sites; the role will require frequent travels (typically 50% of the time).
The SEA will be responsible for site execution of environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable specific country, state/province, region and local regulations.
Key job responsibilities
- Complete environmental inspections and performance analysis, monitor metrics, undertake waste activities for the site and facilitate site implementation of Amazon environmental standards.

- Manage and execute site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, surface water, wastewater, waste and other environmental related laws, regulations and permits.
- Manage and prepare site specific environmental reporting to regulators and within Amazon. -Manage and execute waste management activities, classification, reporting and permitting requirements.
- Execute waste, surface water site inspections. Monitor and provide guidance on site performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and Amazon global standards.
- Support other ATS sites with environmental compliance and ensure site leadership and employees are trained.
- Analyse environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends to determine where improvements are needed.
- Support the REE /REM in Measuring and analysing sites’ performance against published requirements in environmental policies.
- For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
- Execute relevant environmental procedures as dictated by business and regulatory needs.
- Execute site environmental action plan development for any deficiencies noted from trends, audits and inspections.
- Support the REE/REM in Evaluating and developing process improvements for identified risks.
- Support the REE /REM with Facilitating root cause analyses for all environmental incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions for network implementation.
- Detail-oriented and technically oriented to comfortably deep dive with engineering teams to understand operations process for environmental risk assessment.
- Knowledge in adjacent legal areas (occupational and fire protection, energy law)
- Extensive experience as an environmental management officer (ISO14001 and / or EMAS) including safe handling of authorities and auditors
- Business fluent written and spoken English. Broad knowledge of UK environmental regulations - Experience in warehouse operations and logistics is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics
- Ability to manage multiple sites
