**Financial Accountant**

We are seeking a Qualified Financial Accountant to join our industry leading finance team, standing shoulder to shoulder with the business, guiding decision-making through insight that drives action whilst always championing processes that protect the businessand make it easier to get the job done. This is a hybrid role which offers a fantastic 50/50 split, between home (agile) and the office.

**Role Purpose**:
Assisting the R2R Manager to produce accurate and timely consolidated accounts and all supporting business information including balance sheet reconciliations, as efficiently as possible, for the business unit along with various ad hoc projects. To produceand reconcile the VAT returns for the group.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Production and responsibility for the periodic group consolidation/KPI review, reconciliation, and legal entity entries. Working with those that directly input to ensure correct group accounting.
- Intercompany ownership / reconciliation
- Group control account ownership
- Securitisation & Debenture recharges. Ensuring compliance in line with legal processes set out in both these Debt vehicles.
- Ownership of the Group VAT return preparation. Ensuring accurate reporting of VAT across the different VAT groups (3 groups) and adoption with legal compliance. Working closely with the Group Tax Manager.
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations & responsibility for reviewing balance sheet reviews produced by other team members.
- Providing support and cover for Daily Treasury & Cash Forecasting reviews
- Ownership of the Balance sheet tracker, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are listed and in line with what is reported in the accounts. That there is a 6 monthly risk rating review agreed with the divisional FD's and CFO.
- Constantly review ways of working and processes
- Various ad hoc projects
- Calculation of bonuses for a number of schemes and accruals as required.
- Deputise for R2R Manager / Senior Manager as necessary

**Person Specification**:

- An aspiring people manager
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- An excellent approach to customer service with the ability to manage expectations and conflicting priorities of key stakeholders
- Highly flexible and adaptable to business change
- Meticulous approach with an attention to detail
- Taking ownership of problems through to resolution
- Strong customer service ethos
- Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and customers at all levels
- Strong influencing skills
- Problem solving skills

**Technical/Professional**
- Advanced user of Excel, BI tools, and Access
- Working knowledge of at least one major ERP or integrated accounting package.
- Strong technical accounting skills
- Experience of testing and implementing new software
- Large company experience is desired
- Knowledge of the retail and hospitality industry is an advantage.
- Experience working in practice is an advantage
- Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA
