Menzies Distribution are looking for various experienced Transport Planners to join our team, providing a first class service at our Central Planning Centre in Castle Donington (DE74 2TZ). The planning team organises the delivery and collection of producton behalf of Menzies Distribution Solutions Limited and its customers across multiple sites, covering various different contracts. The team has recently expanded which reflects the success of the team within the business and is now looking for individualswho can continue to contribute to this.

The Important Stuff:

- This is a Monday to Friday Position
- The salary is £35k per annum
- It is based on a basic 50 hour week with the working hours being between 08:00-18:00 or 08:30-18:30 (Or to the needs of the business)
- The holiday entitlement for this position is 20-25 plus days bank holidays.
- We plan Day 1 for Day 2, up to Day 1 for Day 5
- Work is continuously updated throughout the day up until late afternoon for next day deliveries so the plan often needs amending up untill the last minute
- The sectors our customers work in are Beverage can, pkg, Palletts, Ambient Food etc.

Transport Planner Duties:

- Ability to prioritise work load and deal with a demanding transport plan, planning for multiple customers
- Liaise in a suitable time frame with both the Driver and the Customer in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery.
- Develop back haul lanes with both Menzies depots and 3rd party customers whilst maintaining fleet utilization.
- Manage and understand Working Time Directive Compliance and comply with all Transport legislation.
- Ability to cover loads with Sub-Contractors and negotiate rates
- Be able to utilise the extensive Menzies network, working with other depots to cover outbound loads and secure reloads to ensure we are planning as efficiently and effectively as possible.
- Understanding of associated costs.
- Reviewing and understanding of vehicle earnings and revenue reports and how to produce them
- Ability to forge excellent working relationships with Stakeholders.
- Briefing and liaising with drivers to ensure the plan is achievable (finish times and start times)
- Ability to explain efficiencies and plans to Management and Supervisors
- Dealing with customers’ orders from percentage load fill, pallet count, etc. and building them into an efficient plan minimising empty running and maximising profitability whilst still meeting customers agreed KPI targets

Transport Planner Requirements:

- A Can-Do, Positive attitude with the ability and initiative to constantly revisit the transport plan and ensure the plan is as efficient and achievable as possible whilst still maninting targeted vehicle earnings and customer service
- Previous experience in a Transport Planning Role (mandatory)
- Experience of working in a busy Transport office
- Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
- Good standard of education and IT literate
- Knowledge of Health & Safety
- Commercial understanding
- Knowledge of transport systems such as ESP, GTS, Transporeon and Blujay
