With nine depositaries across Europe, depositary is an integral product for State Street in EMEA. SSTL, State Street’s UK depositary, is one of the largest providers of trustee and depositary services in the UK, providing oversight to approximately 445 UCITS and AIFMD funds across 40 clients with total asset values of GBP 369bn.

The Head of Regulatory and Technical will report to SSTL’s Deputy CEO and will:

- Ensure SSTL is regarded as a market leader in the provision of regulatory and technical guidance to our customers
- Provide technical services to ensure that SSTL is current in its understanding of all pertinent regulations, market developments and complies with expected levels of fiduciary oversight
- Assist in maintenance of a productive dialogue with the FCA
- Act as an advisor on regulatory and procedural issues
- Act as SSTL representative of the UK Depositary Association’s Technical Committee
- Act as Chair and Secretariat of the SSTL Regulatory Change Forum

What you will be responsible for

As SSTL Head of Regulatory and Technical you will:

- Represent SSTL Technical in meetings of and provide reporting to governance committees, including SSTL’s Board and ExCo, with appropriate, timely and relevant information so that the committees can discharge their responsibilities effectively.
- Provide internal resource to SSTL and IS where required in all technical matters pertaining to Collective Investment Schemes.
- Provide external resource to clients where required in all technical matters pertaining to Collective Investment Schemes.
- Organise, chair and present at Technical Round Table meetings with customers as required.
- Produce and distribute regulatory summaries and technical bulletins as required.
- Represent SSTL on industry committees, including the UKDA Technical Committee, as agreed.
- Run a proactive service to clients issuing commentary on pertinent regulatory and market developments in a timely manner.
- Take all opportunities to develop relationships and profile of SSTL - by presentations to clients and at seminars/conferences.
- Contribute to marketing and strategy initiatives within SSTL.
- Act as Chair and Secretariat to the SSTL Regulatory Change Forum.
- Actively contribute as a member of SSTL ExCo, FEC (Fiduciary Escalation Committee) and other Committees as required.
- Interface with the FCA as requested by the Deputy CEO.
- Contribute to the work of State Street’s EMEA depositary product group and the Regulatory, Industry and Government Affairs group, as required.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years+ financial services knowledge/experience.
- Previous experience of regulatory, technical and/or compliance within financial services/ depositary/asset management.
- Knowledge of UK collective investments schemes, the role of the depositary and fund administration/operations is preferable.

Additional requirements

Hybrid working - 2 days in office minimum.
