**Job Summary**

Experienced Java Developer / software engineer is sought by this major software consultancy to work primarily on public sector projects. Remote contract (all expenses paid), although must be available for regular travel (likely once a week) to client sitein Leeds city centre. To be successful in this role, you should be an experienced Java Developer / software engineer from a solid Agile background, with good comms/people skills (this will be a client-facing role) and an appreciation of TDD if not a solid grounding in it. You'llbe building best-in-class high-availability platforms from scratch for public sector clients including work on the NHS Digital project.

**Role Responsibilities**
- To help design, develop and implement high-scaling software solutions from conception to delivery for high-profile public sector clients
- Drive Agile and engineering practices, mentor juniors and lead by example in a collaborative and communicative manner
- Take the lead on projects when required
- Provide technical opinions and help to drive technical direction on projects, being involved in architectural discussions as appropriate

**About You**
- You will have excellent communication skills/be able to liaise directly with customers concerning requirements in the absence of your project lead
- You will have the ability to lead by example and contribute to a culture of technical creativity and development through taking a collaborative approach and he ability to guide juniors in an encouraging manner
- You'll be an all-around decent person, with an enthusiasm for the job and a pride in the quality of what you're building

**Technical Backround**
- Strong knowledge of Java / Object Oriented principles and software design patterns (gang of 4 etc)
- If not a solid background, then an appreciation of what TDD brings and why/when you might/might not use this methodology
- Ideally you will have experience writing code for high-scaling software deploying to cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Knowledge of Java/Spring, microservices
