Bank Support Project Workers

YMCA DLG stands together with children and young people who are at risk; keeping them safe, supporting their emotional wellbeing, and enabling them to belong, contribute and thrive in their local community. We work to prevent youth homelessness across Sussex and Surrey and provide a home to 763 young people every night. We reach a further 10,000 young people and their families through our other key services, such as counselling, support and advice, mediation, and youth work, so that all young people can belong, contribute and thrive. You can hear our inspiring Young People's Stories HERE.
**The Team**
We provide high quality accommodation which houses asylum seekers and young people aged 16 to 25 and deliver specialist support to enable thriving lives. All young people are treated as individuals and tailored support packages are offered to support their path to becoming fully independent. We adopt a holistic, psychologically informed approach and use a range of one to one and group activities to help young people to develop socially and personally. In addition to this, we use an asset-based approach to actively encourage young people into education, employment and training.
**The Role**
This role involves working proactively, creatively and effectively alongside young people to develop their assets and talents and to acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives. You will contribute to the smooth and safe running of the services by providing consistency and reliability. This will involve recording incidents, accidents and safeguarding issues and sharing information with relevant colleagues. You will also undertake housing management and health and safety-related tasks as required. This includes fire, gas and water safety, and buildings inspections.
**Becoming a Bank Support Project Worker is a great way into the organisation and can be used as a stepping stone to other roles.**
**This role has a flexible range of shifts; the hours can include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.**
**Who You Are**
You will ideally have experience of working with a similar client group and a good understanding of the key risks, challenges and opportunities for young people. You will be able to inspire and work proactively with young people to develop their talents and achieve the skills they need to maintain their lives independently. An excellent planner and organiser, you will be able to manage lots of tasks at the same time and keep appropriate records. Furthermore, you will be able to build strong relationships with other members of your team and will make sure that handovers are robust and clear.
As an organisation, we are committed to the continued professional development of all colleagues, providing an extensive programme of formal learning opportunities and supported by an organisational wide culture of learning.
**YMCA DLG requires all staff and volunteers to be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and to respond proactively to safeguarding concerns. Successful applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
