Maintain confidentiality of staff and patients. Maintain accurate records. Ensure patients receive appropriate information and support in relation to their cancer and treatment. Facilitate open and effective communication within the specialist team and external organisations, both verbal and written, often at a senior level Ensure patient pathways are supported by appropriate documentation e.g., key worker handover.
Develop links with clinical networks and other specialist services to facilitate the sharing of good practice as required. Lead and manage change within a complex environment in response to emerging knowledge and national cancer initiatives, using persuasion and influencing skills. Work collaboratively with other professionals, MDTs, SMDTs, and other organisations to ensure that patient and carer needs are met, ensuring the involvement of the multi-professional team as appropriate. Work collaboratively as a member of the MDT, communicating and leading on issues relating to specialist nursing care and management of the patient pathway, ensuring patients needs are effectively represented and addressed.
Ensure timely and effective communication with patients, staff, relatives and carers in relation to care issues, often managing complex and sensitive information. Proactively manage patient, relative and staff concerns, liaising with staff in the Patient and Customer Services Department as necessary Seek support and advice on matters outside experience and authority
