**Transport Planner (Nights)**
My client, based in their new premises in Ellesmere Port have a vacancy for a newly created role due to expansion of their business. They are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join them.
This role is based on 4 on and 4 off ( 12 hour shifts) 18.00 to 06.00. The role may require flexibility in working hours deoending on demand.
**The role**
You Will be responsible for overseeing the Transport function for the company.
This would need to be done in the most cost effective manner yet maximizing the use of the resources available and within the current legislative environment. Resources include their ownfleet of vehicles and drivers and when required, access to external hauliers and drivers. You will use their own existing plannng tools and processes to build up loads several days forward as new orders come in from customers so that they receive their products when requested, yet within the parameters as set out above.
Their fleet consists of 18 vehicles which do multidrop, going out several times a day. this is intricately tied to their production teams and will require an awareness of their environment.
In addidtion to the outgoing, you will also be responsible for coordinating inbound deliveries into a planning schedule so that yiur fellow warehouse colleagues are aware of what is coming in and when. You will work alongside a small team of warehouse and transport operators and drivers.
**Responsibilities**
Consistent route and load planning, accounting for any specific requirements using the tolls available.
Planning in supplier collections as required, allocating loads to drivers, accounting for issues such as weight restrictions.
Booking in of deiveries with customers, sourcing and organizing of external hauliers as required.
Organising drivers for cover as needed including Agency cover and ensuring the correct processes are followed.
Sound knowledge of VOSA is required in order to be compliant in achieving above which includes maintaining the necessary transport documentation. This includes tachpgraph downloads & infringement management, monitoring and managing drivers hours and ensuring OCRS oints remain ' green' at all times.
Daya to operations will also include, addressing any issues on the vehicles that arise as a result of maintenance, report and solve any non-conformance matters. Work with management to improve efficiency accross operations and implement changes. Undertake certain responsibilities of fellow colleagues in the event of absence.
The person
You will have a good knowledge of the VOSA requirements and other related legislation.
A sound geographical awareness and a minimum of one year's experience as a dedicated Transport Planner. Ideally you will have experience in manufacturing, warehouse and transport. High levels of health and safety awareness. Good organisational skills. Strong IT and numerical skills. Strong communication skills - spoken and written. High levels of flexibility. Able too work under pressure. Able to prioritise workload. people Management skills.
