Complex Care Children Support Worker

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Complex Care Children's Support Workers to join our growing team. We are committed to supporting these children to live fulfilling lives within their own homes and communities.
**About the Role**:
As a Complex Care Children's Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing individualised care and support to children with complex medical, physical, and/or developmental needs. You will work closely with the child, their family, and a multidisciplinary team to ensure their well-being and development. This role requires a high degree of empathy, patience, and professionalism, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Personal Care**: Assisting with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding, as required by the child's individual care plan.
- **Medication Administration**: Administering medication as prescribed, following strict protocols and procedures (training provided).
- **Clinical Procedures**: Performing specific clinical tasks as delegated and trained, such seizure management (training provided).
- **Therapeutic Activities**: Engaging the child in therapeutic activities, play, and learning experiences to promote their development and well-being.
- **Social and Emotional Support**: Providing emotional support, companionship, and encouragement to the child, fostering their independence and self-esteem.
- **Communication**: Communicating effectively with the child, their family, and other professionals involved in their care.
- **Record Keeping**: Maintaining accurate and detailed records of care provided, including observations, activities, and any changes in the child's condition.
- **Safeguarding**: Adhering to all safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the child's safety and well-being.
- **Teamwork**: Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- **Training and Development**: Participating in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in complex care.
**Essential Skills and Qualifications**:
- **Experience**: Proven experience working with children with complex needs, preferably in a home care or healthcare setting.
- **Qualifications**: A relevant qualification in health and social care, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, is desirable.
- **Skills**:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures.
- Ability to administer medication (training provided).
- Ability to perform specific clinical tasks (training provided).

- **Other Requirements**:
- A clear DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service)/ DBS on the Update Service
