We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our ward based occupational therapy team in the form of an Occupational Therapy Assistant based on Mulberry Ward, Scunthorpe. If you have a keen interest in working in a mental health setting, with adults currently in an acute mental health ward setting and a passion for supporting recovery through occupation, then this is the opportunity for you to make a positive difference.
As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know-how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.
To carry out individual therapeutic intervention programmes and feedback relevant information according to agreed assessment framework and treatment aims identified by the Occupational Therapist.
To assist the Occupational Therapist to carry out community based individual assessments.
To work with service users to develop independent living skills and work towards individual recovery and vocational goals in preparation for discharge, as directed.
To carry out agreed Occupational Therapy interventions with service users without direct supervision of senior staff in community locations and service users’ homes as needed and directed by OT.
To carry out group work and contribute to regular evaluation of groups, in conjunction with service users and multi-disciplinary team and ensure a balanced programme of activities.
To provide accurate, relevant and timely verbal and written information regarding patient progress.
Promote meaningful occupation within the patient group.
Identify and source resources for the ward activities, with a lead for maintaining the therapy space (organising, maintaining supplies, creating a welcoming and inviting space, creative use of space).
Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) employ around 4000 talented colleagues who are very much appreciated, valued, and respected.
We have a wide portfolio which includes mental health, physical health, learning disability and drug and alcohol services.
We are passionate about enhancing the quality of our service and we work hard to attract and select the right colleagues for our organisation. Our goal is to employ those who share our passion for providing first class care while remaining committed to our vision and values. Please view our Strategy using the link below:
