International Research Practice Adviser
**Job Purpose**

There will be a non-exclusive focus on equitable partnership with Low

Working largely independently within agreed-upon parameters with the International Development Research Manager and the Head of Strategic Research Initiatives, the post-holder will perform the following duties:
1. Develop a consultation process to identify and engage effectively with researchers and professional staff who have implemented (currently or previously) research practices that did not require travel to the research location.
2. Leverage relationships with external organisations and funding bodies (nationally and internationally) to identify useful lessons learned about how other organisations conduct research at a distance.
3. Collect and collate data on best practice approaches for conducting effective research at a distance into effective guidance for research and research support teams.
4. Develop communities of practice across academic and professional services teams to share best practice for delivery of research at a distance and associated considerations (e.g. training needs). As part of this, the post-holder will develop and deliver networking and training workshops for academic and research support staff on elements of research at a distance and facilitate cross-college engagement to develop stronger interdisciplinary research proposals utilizing these trainings.
5. Develop and deliver a communications plan to highlight and share the best practice guidance within and outwith the University of Glasgow.
6. In partnership with the International Development Research Manager, develop a strategy for ensuring the guidance remains relevant and accessible after the post ends.
7. Working in collaboration with the Strategic Research Initiatives Team, develop, deliver and evaluate new initiatives designed to stimulate and nurture cross-disciplinary collaboration relevant to the international development research community.
