Revenue Officer

I am working with a Public Sector Organisation based in London Borough of Waltham who are looking for experienced Revenue Officer for 6 Months.

Purpose of the Role:
To administer the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates.

Accountability and responsibilities:
Accountabilities:

- Maintain accurate local taxation records.
- Issue bills to new occupiers and adjustment notices to customers where there has been a change of circumstances on their account e.g. Benefit granted, discount, exemption.
- To administer the recovery of unpaid local taxation amounts in line with legislation and the councils' policies and procedures.
- To refer cases of suspected fraud.
- To communicate effectively with other teams in the Council and external agencies such as the CAB, Enforcement Agents, Valuation Office and Landlords.
- Respond to enquiries from customers regarding any matters relating to registration, liabilities, discounts, exemptions and Valuation matters for local taxation systems.
- Attend Magistrates Court or Valuation Tribunal hearings as required.
- To provide advice to external organisations and internal Council services.
- Maintain good internal and external relations' ensuring the Revenues Service demonstrates care and respect for its customers and is responsive to their needs.
- Exercise personal responsibility under the Health and Safety legislation and other related functions.
- Comply with the Council's Complaint Procedure and prepare background information for the Revenues Manager.

- Ability to plan and prioritise work in order to meet deadlines and objectives.

Skills and Abilities:

- Ability to effectively liaise with internal services and external organisations
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to pay attention to detail

Education and Training:

- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- A commitment to undertake any necessary training
- Experience of the Microsoft Office suite of products, in particular Word and Excel

**Experience**:
Experience of working in a local government environment

and available to start on no more than a weeks notice.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temp to perm
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: £17.00-£18.00 per hour
