The University is seeking to recruit an inspiring individual to lead and develop our Widening Participation (WP) approach across the Faculty of Arts. This post will work collaboratively with the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty Science of Engineering and Medicine, to ensure WP provision is joined up across the university promoting and facilitating best practice whilst supporting the development of new innovative provision. It is an exciting time for the Faculty of Arts as it increases the diversity of its student population, coupled with the move into outstanding new facilities.

The role will contribute to the development of a whole institutional approach to widening participation across all aspects of the student lifecycle, linking together, and supporting academic departments with their work and enhancing engagement with institutional WP provision. You will be involved in the development and delivery of initiatives to enhance widening participation policy and practice across the student lifecycle.

The post will have dual reporting lines to the Head of Widening Participation and senior staff based in the Faculty.

**JOB PURPOSE**

To support the implementation of the University’s Widening Participation (WP) Strategy by formulating, managing and delivering effective and evidenced based approaches to improve access, student success and progression. The role will be pivotal in the development of an institutional approach to WP enhancing the University’s commitment to widening participation and social mobility. The role will act as a change-agent to inspire best practice in WP across the University.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Co-ordination and management**
- To develop a Faculty WP implementation plan, building from and connecting to departmental WP plans where appropriate, which coheres with institutional priorities and responds to discipline-specific challenges across the student lifecycle.
- To support academic departments to develop their WP plans to ensure synergy with University and Faculty developments, encouraging innovative practice and reducing duplication.
- To contribute to, and be accountable for, the delivery of the University’s Widening Participation (WP) strategic and operational plans.
- To promote and develop a collegiate approach to WP, including engaging staff and students to support WP provision.
- To be responsible for the delivery of high quality activities in support of the University's WP and access strategies.
- To manage budgets allocated to the Faculty for activity, ensuring compliance with University regulations.
- To analyse internal and external datasets to enhance the evidence base about what works and manage provision to support widening access, retention and progression outcomes.
- To support the implementation of an institutional ‘Access to Warwick’ scheme including the development of academic provision to enhance preparation for HE study and improve attainment.
- To build effective transitional support for targeted WP groups across the University in collaboration with relevant departments and colleagues.
- To support the development and implementation of institutional and faculty-based initiatives which support targeted groups to fulfil their potential throughout the student lifecycle, including access initiatives and progression opportunities.

Communication and stakeholder engagement.
- To facilitate effective and supportive relationships with Faculty and departmental contacts across the University in the delivery of WP activities across the student lifecycle.
- To optimise effective and dynamic communication channels which promote best practice sharing in departments and cross-Faculty in collaboration with the WP Team.
- To champion and promote the University’s WP work, raising the profile internally and externally.
- To represent the University at various regional and national stakeholder groups, including leading some of the University's external partnerships and scoping and supporting the development of new funding opportunities that have strategic fit.
- Ensure that prospective students and their advisors and parents/carers are engaged through a variety of communication methods, promoting a high quality of information, advice and guidance (IAG).
- To support the integration and fusion of related institutional strategies that enhance social inclusion.
- To support the governance of WP work across the institution including supporting and reporting to various thematic working groups and faculty fora and committees.

**Strategy development and implementation**
- To contribute to the advancement of the University's Widening Participation Strategy and Access and Participation Plan objectives, including enhancing the University's reputation and profile relating to WP work, research developments and as an advocate for excellent practice in WP across the sector.
