**Technical Systems and Packaging Technologist**

**Location: Elkes Biscuits, Uttoxeter**

**Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum**

Elkes Biscuits are currently seeking a diligent and motivated Technical Professional to join a well-established team as a Technical Systems and Packaging Technologist. Reporting into the Technical and Development Systems Manager this is a key role supporting a wide range of business areas, such as NPD, Commercial and Operations.

Elkes Biscuits has real heritage in both the local area and also within the industry. In the early 1900s Samuel Elkes opened a confectionery shop in Uttoxeter and in 1928 a purpose-built biscuit factory was opened on the current site. The bakery is known for the biscuit barrel and is the home of the Malted Milk biscuits along with producing Ginger biscuits, Farley's Rusks, Custard Creams, Chocolate Digestive Bars, Oaties and Digestives. We provide retailer own label biscuits to all the major retailers including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Lidl in addition to the Elke’s brand.

This is a brand-new role that will play a key part in supporting in the completion of retailer specifications, Factory audits and supporting with laboratory testing and trials. It will also act as the onsite authority on all packaging related issues

**Duties of this role will include**:

- Co-ordinate origination, trialing and approval of packaging and artwork
- Support operations team in trouble-shooting packaging issues
- Schedule in place for microbiological and chemical contaminants and nutrition testing
- Complete technical audits as part of the site audit team
- Complete KPIs for applicable areas
- Store and maintain sample library
- File, report and interpret laboratory analysis results
- Partake in traceability exercises for areas of responsibility
- Receive, check, and file raw material Certificates of Analysis
- Complete monthly shelf-life testing programme of finished products

- An established background within the technical arena for Food Manufacturing
- Knowledge of major retailer technical specifications
- FLAQ Systems experience would be preferable, along with HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3
- Packaging technology qualifications would be desirable
- Strong IT skills, particularly with Excel
- Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple assignments
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
