**Construction Operative**

**Working Pattern: 40 hrs per week - Monday to Friday**

**Location: Gamston, Nottingham**

Via is currently looking for a Construction Operative to join our Construction & Maintenance Team based at our Gamston Depot.

You will work as part of a team who are responsible for delivering highway maintenance and construction works

**The Job**

Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Highway construction and maintenance works including kerbing, general highway maintenance, structural repairs and much more.
- Ensuring all health and safety standards are met to create a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
- Support with ensuring relevant risk assessments and documents on site are in place.
- Ensure that the correct materials, plant and equipment are used at all times.
- Comply with company policy with regard to plant, equipment and vehicle use.
- Operation of plant including road rollers, breakers, and Stihl saws.

**The Person**

Mainly you will be excited to be out on the highway undertaking construction projects, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you:

- Hold industry recognised qualifications such as New Roads and Streetworks Act and First Aid.
- You will have practical experience of working in a construction environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk assessments and method statements.
- Knowledge of construction, plant and materials associated highways works.
- Understanding of drivers regulations, vehicle checks, tachographs, vehicle loading and securing.
- Full category B driving licence (C desirable).
- You enjoy being outside visiting a variety of different sites and love working as part of a team.
