- Are you friendly? Patient? Love to chat?- Do you want to make a difference to the life of a person with a learning disability? Could you spare just a couple of hours every two months?- If the answer to the above questions is yes, please read on- We are looking for a volunteer to visit a wonderful older lady as a part of our Mencap Visiting Service. She is a very sociable person who loves company, and always makes visitors feel very welcome. No prior experience of learning disability is needed.- Although visits will initially be in the home, she will jump at any opportunity to get out of the house. You might enjoy doing the following together:
- Going out for a cup of tea/coffee
- Grabbing a spot of lunch
- Have a mooch about the shops
- She loves theatre, but hasn't been able to see any in a while. Perhaps you could take in a show?
- This is an incredible volunteering opportunity with an amazing person that anyone would be lucky to know. If the above sounds like something you would enjoy and you are:
- Kind, patient, and reliable
- Up for a new challenge
- Over 18
Then get in touch- The Mencap Visiting Service (MVS) was launched in **1963** as a befriending service to adults with a learning disability after their parents pass away. In volunteering in this service, you would not only be providing a valuable visit to this amazing person, but also honouring her parents' wishes.**or**
