Hello there.......thanks for taking time to look at our advert.
We're looking for someone special to join our amazing, expanding team here at Cara Glass. Looking for a new challenge? could it be you?
For over 30 years Cara Glass have been delighting our customers of Salisbury, South Wiltshire, North Dorset and West Hampshire in providing excellent, quality products alongside amazing installation, Maintenance and warranty support, with exceptional customer service too - which has given us the reputation we have for being one of the leading local companies for windows and doors.
**Due to expanding work, we are now looking for someone to join our experienced installation team who has at least 10 years proven practical experience of being able to fit and maintain windows, doors, and conservatories of different materials.**
Installation of all our products is a critical for Cara Glass Customers - it is probably the most important part after the customer has agreed to purchase and have installed product from us and you are the face and reputation of the company. To see their delight and hear their comments about your handiwork is a real buzz for us all.
As a Window Fitter the main role of this task is to go to a job with a can do attitude, often working with a fitters mate, to install supplied product to Cara's standards and values - as quickly and effectively as possible.
Tasks will involve a fair amount of manual handling and lifting so a level of fitness is required to carry out the role.
Daily hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am-4.30pm (contracted 8 hour day and 40 hours a week). 20 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays and discretionary holiday for Christmas closure are provided as part of the role.
Qualifications are desirable - however you should hold a CERTAS or FENSA MTC (or equivalent) installation card. Any health & safety qualifications of the construction industry would be an advantage (e.g. current CSCS card). A full clean driving license able to drive Transit Vans is essential and part of the role.
There may be the opportunity to work on some of our larger commercial jobs which may involve staying away from home for short periods of time - this would be discussed on an as and when needed basis and are very infrequent at present.
The type of work will include:
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining windows, doors and conservatories in residential and commercial building in UPVC and Aluminium.
- Ability to read and interpret survey and design plans, liaising with the operations manager where appropriate.
- Removing old windows and preparing the opening for new window installation.
- Installing new windows, including attaching hardware and sealing the window to the frame.
- Repairing and maintaining existing windows, including replacing DGU
- Consulting with customers and other professionals to understand their needs - The Cara Way.
- Regularly inspecting and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Adhering to health & safety regulations and industry standards.
The essential skills and attributes we are looking for:
- Acts with professionalism, honesty, and integrity at all times.
- Customer service is a key, non-negotiable, value.
- At least 10 years full time experience of window, door, and conservatory fitting. Please note that is not fitters’ mate or labourer experience, but actual 10 years of fitting all types of products.
- Able to take responsibility and ownership at an installation - with little or no supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal with customers and teammates.
- Excellent organisation and time management
- Every problem is an opportunity - be able to self-problem-solve to a high level being able to forward think and innovate with a positive can-do attitude.
- Ability to use hand and power tools such as drills, saws and mastic/caulking guns.
- A thorough attention to detail and accuracy on every job
- Ability to complete all work to the highest of standards, first time fix and as cost effective as possible. If it’s not good enough for your own house, then it wouldn't be good enough for our customers.
- A clean driving licence.
- A level of fitness to cope with manual handling and lifting.
- Adaptable to change - sometimes things change at short notice.
- A Health and Safety mindset at all times.
- FENSA or CERTAS Fitting card
