Disordered Eating Practitioner Within Mhst

To work within Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) service, delivering training within MHST, 0-19 service colleagues and education settings. The role will offer consultations with education staff and 0-19 service colleagues. The post holder will also complete clinical assessments, offer direct interventions to children/young people and their families/carers, offer parent-led support for those children and young people who present with mild-moderate disordered eating difficulties. Part of the role would be to offer workshops for parents/carers. The post holder would work through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach, providing a range of interventions determined by assessment and formulation and have the role offering lower level intervention to avoid escalation in difficulties. The role is to offer therapeutic support to those young people who do not meet the threshold of specialist services offering intervention to avoid the development of significant difficulties. You will work with the support of the Children’s Eating Disorders (CEDs) Service and MHST team members. The post holder will work jointly with the Early Intervention CEDS team. The post holder will be expected to carry a caseload, to supervise junior members of the team, as appropriate.
Must be a car user and have a car available to travel.
Training opportunities will be available as NHFT encourage and support clinical development.
**Key Duties/ Responsibilities**:
To carry out assessments of children, young people and family needs within the mild-moderate presentation range.
To offer consultation and support to colleagues in MHST and 0-19 services related to difficulties in eating and body image for young people accessing these services.
To independently assess, develop, implement and evaluate episodes of care/care packages to children/young people and their families/carers, under the supervision of senior colleagues.
To plan and participate in a range of individual, family and group therapy techniques for children, young people and their families/carers.
To undertake direct therapeutic work, using evidence based clinical interventions, either individually or jointly with other team members.
To take part in training to develop the skills to provide the identified interventions.
To utilise analytical skills for assessing and interpreting complex facts. ie. Physical health risks, suicide risk/child protection, and to take appropriate action, following the analysis, interpretation, and comparison of a range of options.
To plan and organise a broad range of activities or programmes, some of which are on-going, which require the formulation and adjustment of plans or strategies.
To carry a case load of appropriate complexity, under effective supervision and guidance, and to work effectively and according to NICE guidelines to improve outcomes for children/young people
