**The role**:
Southport College has recently invested £200k on the redevelopment of our workshop space to encompass Electric and Hybrid Vehicle technology. Development of this provision is central to the College’s Vision. An opportunity has arisen to join our Motor Vehicle team and deliver courses to young people and local employers. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about Motor Vehicle technologies and is able to share this excitement with students of all ages in an inspirational manner. This role is perfect for a someone wanting to work in a newly refurbished environment in FE or someone who is looking to share their knowledge of the Motor Vehicle industry with aspiring young people.
- Light vehicle maintenance
- Removing and replacing light engine units and components
- Electrical units and components
- Chassis
- Driveline and transmission
- Light vehicle fault finding and rectification

**Responsible to**:
The postholder is responsible to the Curriculum Manager (Engineering, Core Skills & HE)

**Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities**:
Lecturer duties and responsibilities are wide ranging. They may include, but are not restricted to the following depending upon the emphasis in any given post.
- Formal Scheduled Teaching.
- Timetabled enrolment/admissions/guidance activities.
- Attendance at marketing events.
- Invigilation.
- Substitutions for absent colleagues.
- One to one learner support/tutoring other than programmes which consist entirely of formal portfolio assessment and accreditation activities.
- Scheduled activities/tasks associated with the College's Quality Assurance systems.
- Research and consultancy.
- Maintain up to date resources.
- Development of new resources and population of the VLE.
- Attend relevant staff development
- Management and administration. This may include:

- contributing to College administration or the administration of education and training programmes.
- publicity and public relations.
- participation in appropriate team and committee meetings and course management duties including the interviewing, induction, assessment and examination of students.
- preparing statistical returns including retention rates, examination results, student progress placement and destination.
- participation in student monitoring and reporting and course review and evaluation procedures.
- participation in quality assurance and control procedures.
- To provide information for the self-assessment and course review process in relation to functional skills.
- To liaise closely with additional support mentors to ensure a seamless approach to supporting students in vocational sessions.
- To maintain records relating to the levels and achievements of students and set appropriate targets.
- To maintain up to date resources.
- To keep up to date with changes in specifications and advise accordingly.
- To carry out any other duties which may be required from time to time and which are commensurate with the post.

The above duties are indicative of the requirements of the post at the time of recruitment. It is management policy that roles and responsibilities are reviewed on a regular basis leading to possible modifications where appropriate. Staff may be asked to undertake other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with the post, at the initial place of work or at other locations from which the College operates.

Possession of a relevant advanced qualification to Level 3 E A

Possession of a recognised teaching qualification/or readiness to undertake in-service training E A

Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Numeracy and Literacy (or
willingness to undertake and achieve within 2 years) E A

Possession of Assessors Awards D A

Possession of Verifiers Award D A

F-Gas Qualification or a willingness to work towards. E A

A level 4 qualification in electric vehicle maintenance or a willingness to work towards D A/I

**Experience**

Minimum of 2 years teaching experience D A

**Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**

Enthusiastic and innovative teacher with sound knowledge of current trends in Teaching and Learning E I

A readiness to be flexible in relating to colleagues and the requirements of the post E I

Ability to relate professionally to students of all ages, background and ability E I

Proficiency in managing students learning including all aspects of planning, delivery, assessment and feedback E A/I

Resourcefulness and imagination in preparing learning support devices and materials for students. E I

Possession of relevant knowledge and expertise in Information and Learning Technology and the use of Information Technology. E I

Willingness to contribute fully or as required, to the work of the Department and operate as an effective team member. E I
