**The Student Wellbeing Officer Role**

You will work across the college within a dedicated and supportive team providing supportto students that are deemed ‘At Risk’ on a number of pastoral topics and referring to support within Student Inclusion and Support and the wider Student Experiencedirectorate as appropriate with regular one-to-one’s appropriately recorded.

You will be a Designated Safeguarding Officer, referring internally and externally, sharing information and reports as appropriate.

**Responsibilities as our Student Wellbeing Officer will include**:

- Take responsibility for a caseload of students that are deemed ‘At risk’ and provide intervention/support for these students to promote educational attainment.
- Identification and agreement upon actions in the supporting of at-risk students with appropriate staff and external agencies, providing 121 support as required
- To take responsibility for a caseload of LAC students & attend all Personal Education Planning meetings & offer support and intervention to achieve
- To attend and contribute to CIN and CP meetings when required by social care.
- To take responsibility for dealing with external agencies regarding requests for information and processing and writing reports i.e. Social care, police.
To assist the wider Student Experience team with new and ongoing projects and awareness campaigns
- Work collaboratively as part of the Wellbeing team and provide cover for other members of the team
- To be a Designated Safeguarding Officer, taking responsibility for a site safeguarding phone

**As our Student Wellbeing Officer you will need**:

- A broad knowledge of the issues facing young people in post-16 education.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection in relation to welfare needs.
- Knowledge and understanding of emotional support needs of adolescents.
- Knowledge of external support services available to young people.
- Experience identifying situations where referral is appropriate for staff and students.
- Recent experience of working with young people aged 16+.
- Experience of working as an effective member of a team.
- Experience of negotiating with and on behalf of others.
- Experience in liaising effectively with tutors and outside agencies.
- Recent experience in safeguarding children.
- Ability to work within College policies on confidentiality and Child Protection.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of learners and staff both on an individual basis and in group settings.
- Experience of looking at data and effectively acting upon finding.
- Ability to relate to and motivate young people and staff from diverse backgrounds
