Imperial Professionals are delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with Middlesbrough College who are recruiting for a SENCO Co-ordinator on a permanent basis.

**Salary**: Depending on Experience

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Middlesbrough

Hours: 18.5 hrs per week

**Job Purpose**

The SENCO HE will work with the Associate Director ALS & High Needs Provision and ALS team to deliver a high-quality customer focused HE Disability and Learning Support Service in line with corporate and departmental objectives.

**Responsibilities**:

- To co-ordinate and provide appropriate advice, guidance, and support for students with disabilities and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) to enable them to remain safe and realise their potential during their time in higher education, from pre-entryadvice through to qualification success.
- To provide expert advice, support, and relevant training for HE staffs and students on issues related to student disability and SpLDs including at induction.
- To work with a range of multi agencies in supporting HE students and implement service level agreements.
- To advise students with SpLDs both individually and in group sessions.
- To request, monitor and ensure that reasonable adjustments, based on individual needs, are made to facilitate student achievement.
- To support student independence by ensuring the correct staff utilisation and assistive technology support and advice.
- Support students with specialist IAG and transition to HE courses to implement timely reasonable adjustments.
- To liaise with Faculty staff and individual tutors to advise on the support needs of students with disabilities and/or SpLDs.
- To maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by Middlesbrough College and any statutory regulators including but not limited to Awarding Bodies, Funding Bodies and / or Government Departments.
- Implement all College policies and procedures governing student life and conduct.
- To promote and market the service effectively.
- To maintain, develop and deliver relevant promotional material and information resources for Canvas.

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrable experience of assessing and supporting adults with disabilities in a HE or similar environment.
- Expert practitioner, professionally qualified in the field of disabilities.
- Knowledge of disability legislation and practice in the sector.
- Experience of multi-agency working
- Experience and/ or knowledge of mental health issues - Desirable
- An up-to-date qualification and membership of a professional body which enables diagnosis of Specific Learning Difficulties according to SASC.
- To hold a teaching qualification or be prepared to commence an appropriate qualification on appointment to the post.
- To hold a relevant qualification at Degree level or equivalent.
- Certificate in Autism Awareness.
- Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Certificate in Behavioural management - Desirable.
- Personal commitment to keeping your professional knowledge up to date and improving your capabilities - Desirable
- Training in supporting students with ASD and other complex difficulties - Desirable
