Together we’re shaping a cleaner, greener future for our 11 million customers who we put at the heart of everything we do. **Role Accountabilities**: - Accountable for developing the 1-5year network design strategies, including planning of all Network designs across the Repex and Capex portfolio, ensuring works are performed in accordance with safety, technical and legislative policies and procedures. - Develop the detailed strategies for the design, planning and delivery of the 5-year mains replacement, diversion and reinforcement programmes of work. - Make key asset investment decisions across the Network, including Capital Delivery projects and Operate and Maintain activities, as required to ensure pressure management and security of supply within the Network - Enact the roles of Principal Designer, in accordance with CDM Regulations, and REP/2 Local Responsible Manager, according to the Cadent Safety Case. - Accountable for developing and keeping current, the rolling 5-year strategic plan for all design related activities within the Network, ensuring that Cadent delivers on the RIIO2 commitments. - Accountable for Network designs relating to pressure management, model maintenance, operating strategies and reinforcements based on capacity growth and demand forecasts, thereby safeguarding the Network pressure and flows to ensure security of supply. - Within a 2-year planning horizon, lead the detailed planning and design for all projects within the Network. Produce viable programmes by balancing regulatory, technical and commercial drivers for work selection, ensuring that works can be delivered ina safe, compliant and efficient manner. - Manage system access constraints (outage planning) to ensure successful delivery of all regulatory outputs by the various delivery mechanisms (CMO, O&M, Capital Delivery, etc) requiring access to the distribution network. - Continually monitor the Network delivery programmes and where necessary implement recovery plans in respect of design, in conjunction with the relevant stakeholders (IPO, Finance) and Delivery Vehicles (O&M, CMO, Capital Deliver) to ensure outputs are delivered. - Enact the role of Principal Designer in line with CDM Regulations, ensuring that design obligations under CDM are embedded into all engineering design processes (both internal to the Network and Supply Chain). This will ensure that Cadent is compliant withits legal obligations, thereby mitigating risk of litigation. - Enact the role of REP/2 Local Responsible Manager for the Network in accordance with Cadent’s Safety Case, thereby ensuring compliance with the HSE Enforcement Notice on mains replacement within the 30/30 Programme and protecting Cadent’s licence to operate. - Ensuring engineering design governance and control processes are designed, implemented, monitored, reviewed and adhered to by Designers and Contractors. - Ensuring Designers have the relevant competences, skills and knowledge to successfully deliver the relevant aspects of the programme. - In conjunction with the Commercial Managers, Delivery Managers and key external stakeholders, develop and implement robust multi-year replacement and reinforcement schemes to ensure that key metrics associated with these programmes are delivered. Ensuringthat all projects are appropriately assessed and designed in a timely, cost-effective and economic manner. - As part of the IPO leadership team, responsible for meeting agreed business performance targets, controls and operating costs; achieving investment plans, managing risk effectively and delivering all agreed outputs. **About You** You will possess the following knowledge, skills and qualifications: **Qualifications** - Engineering qualification at degree level or equivalent work experience - Valid UK Driving Licence - Chartered / Incorporated Engineer status or working towards - desirable but not essential - NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety (or equivalent) - IOSH qualification **Practical Experience** - Extensive engineering and engineering performance knowledge and experience - Experience in designing gas distribution networks operating at
