**Teaching Assistant - Full/Part time - Near Penrith**
A popular Secondary school near **Penrith** are looking for an **experienced Teaching Assistant** who can work with their Learning Support team - this role is to start as soon as possible and will ideally be **full time, however part time can also be considered**. This role is for six weeks initially - there is potential this could extend and there are opportunities in Secondary schools.
This is a supportive team who work with students on EHCP's and those with SEMH needs, as well as supporting students to access the curriculum and engage with their learning - it is important to be able to work independently to meet individual and group needs,as well as having the ability to work well with the team.
**What will working as a TA on supply involve doing day to day?**
You will be employed to support the Class Teacher and Learning Support team, work will involve:
- Encouraging and supporting the routine that has been set in place for the individual
- Encouraging the individual’s confidence, self-esteem and independence.
- Helping the student understand instructions through repetition, re-phrasing or demonstrating.
- Providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessments
- Implementing EHCP's and behaviour policies/strategies to facilitate development, learning and manage behaviour
- Developing trusting effective relationships with young people with SEMH needs to support their development, well being and access to learning
- Potentially supporting the individual in social activities and on outings.
- Supporting students to access the curriculum and their learning either on an individual basis or working with small groups
**What personal qualities and skills does working as a TA on supply require?**
You will be required to hold a Level 3 recognised TA qualification as well as practical previous experience. You will need an interest in education and in working with**students** along with excellent communication and ‘people’ skills. You willneed to have a **calm, confident, mature approach t**o your work and a responsible attitude along with much**patience and a sense of humour at times**You will need to be a **patient person**who has compassion and **empathy and also a drive to see others flourish and succeed as they learn. You will need experience teaching and supporting learners**and be willing to get stuck in and provide help as and when it is needed.
