Heavy Plant Engineer
- Basic 40 hours, Monday to Friday
- Base salary circa £32k (dependent on experience)
- Full-time, Permanent
- Paid overtime as required to suit the business’ needs
- Based out of the Medway depot, working on customer sites across the South-East (occasionally further afield).

A small, young, but highly experienced, close-knit team, looking for an experienced machinery movement technician to join them as they continue to grow. An engineering company that provide industrial machinery installation, relocation and maintenance support services to customers in a wide range of industries. Operating primarily in the South-East (travelling further afield, as required), they take pride inproviding a first-class service for all their customers, whether for a single machine movement or full multi-disciplined project. Key Responsibilities:

- Undertake site work as part of a team to safely carry out the removal, installation or relocation of a wide range of industrial machinery, plant and equipment.
- Match-mark, disassemble and reassemble heavy industrial machinery.
- Heavy machine and equipment moving, utilising jacking, skating, hoisting, slinging, cribbing, etc. skills safely & effectively.
- Crane lift supervision, slinging and banking.
- Installation of mechanical equipment and associated ancillary items (including pipework - steel screwed, aluminium push-fit, etc.).
- Carry out planned mechanical repairs & maintenance to customer plant & machinery (this would typically be as part of a heavy handling support task - large motor/gearbox replacement, large conveyor drive roller removal, as examples).
- Work to the method statements, risk assessments and lift plans provided and always with yours and other’s safety in mind.
- Identify the correct equipment required for each task and utilise that equipment correctly.
- Maintain the Company’s high standards for use/care of our tools and plant.
- Ensure excellent House Keeping standards are maintained whilst on site, in the van or in the workshop.
- Assist other trades working within the team, as required and as they are expected to help you.

Key Skills / Qualifications
- Strong experience in a wide range of industrial lifting and mechanical handling operations.
- Experience in the operation of counterbalance forklift trucks (ideally with CPCS or NPORS experienced operator card), MEWP both boom and scissor (ideally with IPAF card) and working with mobile telescopic cranes.
- Slinger/signaller (ideally CPCS)
- Lift Supervisor (ideally CPCS)
- Experience working with a range of industrial machinery components, i.e. motors, drive systems, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.
- Sound knowledge of Industrial mechanical installation and maintenance.

Other requirements:

- Work whatever reasonable hours are requested in line with the requirements of the business, including weekends (paid overtime), as required.
- Ensure company rules, procedures and standards are adhered to, in addition to any of the site-specific rules imposed by our customers.
- You will be employed from the Medway depot but expected to travel to customers’ place of business, sometimes needing to stay overnight (for periods ranging from 1 night to several).
- Be an effective contributor to the team and business.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Please be aware, by its nature, this role will include physical exertion (e.g. lifting and carrying).
- Be prepared to work at height, in confined spaces, in remote areas, in environments that can be dirty or in buildings with difficult access (with the relevant training).
