Paediatric Senior Staff Nurse | Children and young people services | Band 6 Depending On Experience | Nottingham | Full time | Monday - Friday with Ad-Hoc Weekends & occasional night shift The Children and Young People's services are growing at Spire Nottingham,offering in-patient and outpatient services with a developing HDU service. You will provide pre and post-operative care to children and young people, assisting in their recovery and preparing them for discharge - this will include wound care, assisting withpersonal care and providing emotional support at what can be a stressful time. You will assist in the running of paediatric clinics, phlebotomy and minor operations in the outpatient department. You will liaise with their parents, guardians and consultantsgiving advice and making recommendations to improve the patients' wellbeing, whilst also being adept at identifying a deteriorating patient and making on the spot, informed decisions. You will also be working autonomously across a variety of outpatient settings,liaising closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide family centred care to children and young people. As a senior nurse, you will be able to provide an expert level of professional practice within paediatric nursing and to be able toprovide advice, information and support to the nursing team. You will actively support the CYP Lead Nurse, assisting in the safe, effective and efficient management of the CYP service and deputising in their absence. You will assist in the development andimplementation of new services within CYP. You will assume responsibility for undertaking tasks delegated by the lead nurse including mentoring roles, auditing and clinical governance. To promote an environment that is conducive to learning, supporting andparticipating in the supervision/teaching of junior and/or new staff, both nursing and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Our state of the art, purpose built hospital located in Tollerton, has 42 privateen-suite rooms including a paediatric inpatient ward, 4 theatres including a hybrid theatre, a 5 bed Critical Care Unit, a minor ops suite in Outpatients, 11 day case beds, endoscopy suite, on-site MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound and mammography, physiotherapy,pharmacy and 300 free car parking spaces. Duties and responsibilities Assess children and young people's health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload. Assist in the delivery of care to meet the child and families health and wellbeing needsDelivering excellent post-surgical care to paediatric patients Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information. Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others. Promotes best practice in health and safety and security. Assist in maintainingand developing an ever-expanding Paediatric service. Promote and be advocate for children and young people's equality, diversity and rights. Ensure all child and young people's safeguarding needs are assessed and acted on as per local and LSCB policies ProvidingRCN support during paediatric clinics, assisting with minor operations and Phlebotomy. Working as part of a small team Liaise with members of the Multi-disciplinary team to deliver Individualised care To be proactive in supporting the nursing team and actingas a positive role model always promoting best clinical and professional practice. To act as CYP representative at local and wider meetings.
