**About the Data Scientist position**:
This position is responsible for identifying and solving complex business problems that arise within a global e-commerce company; driving methodological innovations into data science and digital products in customer analytics, supply chain, operations optimisationand more.

The Data Scientist will be hands-on and build statistical models and digital solutions to extract value and create actionable recommendations; influencing business decisions and driving digital transformation.

**Day to day, we'll look for the Data Scientist to**:

- Build statistical models from data and use good coding practices to generate reproducible work
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders, product owners and team members and drive product development plans
- Explore and visualise data to present meaningful stories
- Use an evolving range of data analysis tools and techniques
- Query structured data from relational databases using programming languages including SQL
- Gather unstructured data through web scraping, APIs, and surveys
- Employ sophisticated analytical methods, machine learning and statistical methods to prepare data for use in predictive and prescriptive modelling
- Extract large volumes of structured and unstructured data and thoroughly clean and prepare data for pre-processing and modelling
- Perform exploratory data analysis to determine how to handle missing data and to look for trends and/or opportunities
- Develop new algorithms to solve problems and build programs to automate repetitive work
- Communicate predictions and findings to management and various departments through effective data visualisations and reports
- Recommend cost-effective changes to existing procedures and strategies
- Work with all teams to understand and demonstrate where data science can add value and support strategic and operational decision making
- Help to grow data science skills in other teams across a variety of functional roles

**We're looking for a Data Scientist with**:

- A Bachelors, Masters and/ or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics or related field
- Significant working experience as a Data Scientist; building data science models and products, ideally for an e-commerce company
- A background in machine learning, quantitative methods, predictive modelling, statistics or similar.
- An excellent track record of delivery using languages like Python, R, Excel, Jira
- A willingness to build on and experiment with data science platforms and solutions
- The ability to effectively communicate data science results and analytics value to business stakeholders
- C1 Effective Operational Proficiency or Advanced: English
