Clinical Psychologist in Cancer Services

A unique opportunity has arisen for Clinical Psychologists with experience of working in a physical health setting, to work in an innovative pilot service, providing an integrated clinical psychology service for people affected by cancer across the East Midlands region. The pilot is funded by NHS England & Improvement's East Midlands Cancer Alliance and is an excellentopportunity to work across a diverse region, honing your skills in psychological therapy and providing training and clinical supervision across the health and social care system.
The Physical Health Psychology Service consists of Clinical Psychologists working across physical health specialties and staff wellbeing at Kings Mill Hospital, John Eastwood Hospice, and across the East Midlands. You will be part of a highly supportive, innovative, multi-award-winning team of clinical psychologists who are committed to offering an excellent service to patients and staff in physical healthcare settings.
We are almost fully recruited for the refunded extension of this innovative regional pilot service and require an additional dedicated psychologist to complete clinical the team.
As a key member of the team, you will provide the full range of psycho-oncology services across the East Midlands, with a focus on areas of greatest need where there is little or no psychology provision. The project team of qualified and assistant clinical psychologists, supported by a team secretary, will provideremote,high quality, specialist psychological assessment and therapy for individuals and groups of patients affected by cancer with complex physical and psychological health needs and their adult carers. You will offer consultation, supervision and training fornon-psychologist cancer professionals across health, social care and the voluntary and community sectors, spanning primary and secondary care. You will utilise research skills to contribute to the evaluation of the pilot, as well as for service developments.

To support the Lead Clinical Psychologist in the setup of a psychological care pathway delivered remotely across the East Midlands Cancer Alliance regions, provide remote specialised assessment and evidence based interventions to referred cancer patients across the East Midlands, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Trust policies and procedures
Provide clinical supervision to the Assistant Psychologist and support to other clinical psychologists/trainee clinical psychologists in the team.
Support and supervise non psychology colleagues e.g. students and other cancer professionals, in psychological aspects of their work with patients and their families
Offer remote consultation, teaching, training and advice to cancer professionals across the East Midlands. Work closely with the “level 2 cancer” nurse specialists
Assist the Lead Clinical Psychologist for the Cancer Video Psychotherapy Project in developing and delivering evidence based psychological programmes and self management material
Liaise with and facilitate access to mental health services, IAPT services and third sector support services as appropriate
Utilise research and supervision skills
To assist in the promotion of the service and dissemination of relevant psychologically informed practice across the wider health system, as required.
Peer support, regular clinicalsupervision and CPDwill be offered. We havestrong links with local Doctorate Clinical Psychology training courses, with opportunities to be involved in teaching, research supervision and clinical placement provision.
