Gardener & Grounds Maintenance Operative

We are now seeking a committed, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Gardener & Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our growing team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role for someone with genuine horticultural knowledge, practical experience, and a strong work ethic. You’ll be working both independently and as part of a team on sites that demand attention to detail, initiative, and care.

In the spring and summer months, the role will focus heavily on garden and site maintenance — including detailed border work, regular grass cutting, shrub trimming, weed control, and plant care.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a wide variety of gardens and commercial outdoor spaces to a high standard
- Confidently carry out grass cutting, weeding, strimming, pruning, and border maintenance
- Operate and maintain professional garden machinery and hand tools
- Deliver excellent customer service when engaging with clients on site
- Assist in or lead fencing, decking, and general landscaping jobs
- Work safely and productively, either solo or alongside a small team
- Keep vehicles and equipment clean, organised and fit for use
- Experienced gardener with good plant knowledge and hands-on practical skills
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance and/or soft landscaping
- Fencing or timber work experience is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and pride in completing work to a high standard
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently with mínimal supervision
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
- Must hold a full UK driving licence
- No penalty points, past driving bans, or criminal convictions (insurance requirement)

Pay: From £26,880.00 per year
