The Therapies department is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Therapy Assistant with previous experience in acute therapies to join our integrated ED, Frailty and Short Stay Assessment service. We are a friendly and dynamic team which is committed to inter-disciplinary working and professional development.

This is a joint post between physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Duties will include carrying out mobility and exercise programs with patients and providing assistance with initial patient assessments, functional assessments and supervised treatments, as well as general departmental housekeeping duties and general administration duties.

You will be supported with yearly appraisals, weekly in-service training and regular supervision from more senior staff. You will also have opportunities to be involved in departmental initiatives.

This is a full time position (37.5 hours per week) including some weekend shifts. Flexible working requests and job shares are considered.
- To work in an integrated way to assist the Therapy team in information gathering, delivering treatments, agreeing patient goals and to support with discharge planning.
- To be confident in using a wide variety of manual handling equipment to support treatments such as hoist, sliding sheets, rota stand, sliding board, sara steady, walking frames, crutches and sticks.
- To be able assess and prescribe basic equipment such as commodes, FSTF, perching stools and bed sticks.
- To attend all relevant training, and ensure ongoing CPD towards achieving all Band 3 Generic Assistant competencies.
- To provide a high standard of care within their scope of practice as delegated by the registered practitioner
- To carry a caseload identified by the supervising Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist.
- To assess and carry out treatment plans under the direction of a qualified member of staff to develop and maintain patients ability to function independently
- To continue to develop and undertake a range of delegated tasks independently
- To attend mandatory updates
- To complete local competencies for the band with agreed timeframe
- Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade
- To assume responsibility for their workload ensuring that they adhere to the Trusts policies and procedures
- To work as part of a Multi-disciplinary team
