**Inventory Control Lead - Aerospace, Defence sector**

Our client is a highly successful aerospace company, they have an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Control Lead.

**The purpose of the role**:

- To implement appropriate inventory strategies to ensure that materials for production, spares and repairs are available to meet build line and customer contractual commitments
- Own the Plan For Every Part (PFEP) process, coordinating inputs from the commercial, procurement, engineering and operations functions
- Lead the inventory segment of the Sales, Inventory Operations and Planning (SIOP) process
- Compile and present recommendations to key members within the business

**As an Inventory Control Lead, your skills and qualifications will ideally include**:

- Ideally 5+ years’ experience in inventory planning and analysis within a technology-based company, ideally aerospace & defence of similar type of industry
- Degree level qualification (MCIPS, APICs or similar) preferred
- Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Software tools, specifically a high level on Excel
- Significant enterprise resource planning (ERP) and forecast management experience
- Knowledge of master production scheduling, product definition, capacity requirements planning, contractual flow downs and supply chains
- Detail oriented, capable of critically analysing large volumes of data
- Solution focused, comfortable in making recommendations and an effective level of communicating them to all levels
- An ability to connect issues and topics from several different functions.
- Self-starter used to managing time and multiple priorities effectively
- Strong communicator with an ability to engage key stakeholders from across the organisation

**As an Inventory Control Lead, your main responsibilities will involve**:

- Efficiently balance customer demand, capacity and inventory through the optimisation and deployment of PFEP
- Lead cross functional meetings to ensure that the necessary data inputs are provided by each integrated programme team (IPT)
- Understand the commercial requirements of each customer contract and highlight the deltas that exist between customer/supplier lead times
- Conduct reviews of A,B,C categorised parts using runner, repeater, stranger and alien methodology
- Propose stocking strategies for each IPT to improve part availability and on time to promise (OTTP) delivery performance
- Monitor and report on the changes to customer forecasts and demands, with major variations/risks being accompanied by a proposal for mitigation
- Generate and manage forecast orders/safety stock levels
- Ensure that changes in the external environment, markets and supply chains are included in material forecasting and lead-time planning
- Establish planning time horizons and update periodically based on part availability risk(s)
- Work with procurement to implement processes that support customer contractual requirements
- Own the Inventory element of the SIOP process, monitoring material budget vs actual
- Determine where inventory is held -on site, with customers, at suppliers, in distribution channel, aftermarket repair depot and propose strategies to optimise availability
- Identify and reduce the key drivers of excess inventory within each function
- Review inactive and obsolete inventory for each site and drive
- Work with the IT department and analysts to develop reports or functional system changes which enhance material planning and inventory monitoring
- Understand and operate in accordance with government regulations (DFAR, ITAR, EAR)
