**Job Description**:
The McDonald’s Global Labor and Employment Law Group currently has an exciting opportunity for a Labor and Employment attorney to join the team. This team handles a wide variety of matters including providing advice and counsel to HR professionals and Market Legal Teams internationally, working on the company’s strategic initiatives and managing all aspects of labor and employment matters.
**Responsibilities**:
In addition to following McDonald's policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Advise, Counsel, Manage, and Influence_:
- Labor and Employment COE for Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand & the Middle-East,
- Market Legal Partner for Global People initiatives, policies, and risks with multi-jurisdictional impacts
- Provides support to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies
- Participates in, and influences the decision-making process with appropriate clients and stakeholders including the assigned IOM and DL markets, including assisting with strategy developing and risk assessment
- Leads Global Mobility (legal) for the MEA and IOM European markets, identifies and assesses legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and advises accordingly
- Independently handles legal matters and projects ranging from basic to complex
- Recognizes when the advice of leadership, markets, or outside counsel is appropriate
- Ensures that appropriate clients and stakeholders are involved in the decision-making process
- Educates clients, markets, and stakeholders on legal matters, policies and procedures
- Develops policies and procedures within a defined practice area and/or specific geographic area
- Advocates McDonald's interests in assigned matters
- This role requires some international travel (20%)
- Relationships and Oversight_:
- Supports the European General Counsel, IOM CPO, European and ANZ Market GCs, and European & ANZ Market CPOs, European DL markets, MEA HR, as well as their respective teams on labor and employment matters
- Supervises, manages, and evaluates outside counsel as appropriate.
- Supervises and/or provides direction to administrative, paralegal, and other support staff.
- Establishes and maintains relationships, credibility, and trust with clients, stakeholders, legal team members and other colleagues.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum Requirements_:
- J.D. or LLB or equivalent licensing required
- Proven experience of labor and employment experience
- Experience handling of labor and employment matters outside US, including familiarity with immigration and executive transfer.
- Experience in counseling clients on labor and employment matters.
- Strong partnership skills and the ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Strong written and communication skills required
