installation and bank and onset**Role’s purpose**:

- Ensure appropriate tools and equipment are correctly used at all times.
- Ensure effective communication and act on instructions from others
- Take responsibility of their own working area.
- Participate in risk assessments, method statements, and pre-shift forms.
- Carry out pre-start checks on equipment.
- Complete all work to required standards.
- Contribute, where applicable, to the development of ideas and improvements by discussion with appropriate
- Line/Technical Manager.
- Work within a team to ensure planned objectives are met safely.
- Follow instructions of supervisors and management.
- Take responsibility for the correct training of other team members as required.
- Ensure they have the skills and knowledge to work safely and effectively.
- Participate in discussions with supervisor and team on safety issues and infrastructure requirements.
- Plan their own work to ensure it is carried out in a safe and effective manner.
- Making informed decisions associated with hazard identification and risk management to ensure operational safety.
- Be willing to train in other areas as and when required
- Flexibility with shifts and willing to cover other shifts if required

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Good understanding of Health and Safety principles and issues.
- An appreciation of support systems, ventilation, geology and other technical service disciplines.
- Good understanding of risk assessment and method statement development.
- Experience of work involving: transport, conveyors, ‘backripping’ works, salvage
- installation, Bank / Onsetter duties and knowlege shaft emergency procedures is desirable.

**Required Qualifications/Certificates/Experience**:

- Level 2 Skills for Life which incorporates:

- Numeracy
- Literacy
- ITQ

or evidence of GCSE equivalent/higher- ICL UK standard in operation of required machinery
- Risk Assessment Trained
- IOSH Working Safely
- Effective Communication Skills
- Trained in Altair gas detection monitoring equipment
